i'm sitting pretty and i don't know why

"I don't know why but it seems like girls are always not taking a warm enough coat." True. Me. All the time. There is something I love about wearing boys' clothing. I am forever borrowing/stealing sweatshirts and oxford shirts. I actually took one of my dad's old cable knit sweaters when I went home for Christmas and it's one of my favorite things now. Anyway, I came across this video the other day. Fashion blog royalty Scott Schuman and Garance Dore have teamed up with Tiffany and Instagram to create this adorable "True Love" campaign. All of my favorite things- street style, Tiffany's, Instagram and cute. Plus, how adorable is it that they are actually an item?
I'm like, really exhausted so I'm confused as to why I'm blogging right now. Nothing significant has really happened to me. Oh, I saw Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close this week. I liked it. It was a little long, but I think it must have been so difficult to turn that book into a movie, and I thought they did a good job.

I have 4 exams next week. I h8 skool. I'm doing a pretty good job keeping my resolutions so far. A few more days and I will have gone an entire month with no soda! I'm doing ok working out. I'm definitely doing much better than last semester. I have also cooked a reasonable amount and recently got some new recipes from my mom. Don't worry, I will absolutely not take pictures of anything I make and put them up here. I will leave that task to all you Pinterest advocates. (I have not succumbed to the phenomenon).

Obviously, I would love to have no school and just play all the time, but I really don't mind school or work, I would just like it to be warm. Not even hot, just like, 48 degrees. The other day I went running and it was in the low 50's and I felt so happy, I could have run all day. (Not true). But I did feel so happy in the sun. I would be much more cheerful and skinnier if it was warm all the time.

I almost forgot. My best friend, Kaile Knell has been called to serve in Tacoma, Washington!! Isn't that fabulous? Kaile is going to make such an extraordinary missionary. I am so excited for her.
"I like to see people reunited, maybe that's a silly thing, but what can I say, I like to see people run to each other, I like the kissing and the crying, I like the impatience, the stories that the mouth can't tell fast enough, the ears that aren't big enough, the eyes that can't take in all of the change, I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone."

you feel like an ocean being warmed by the sun

Guess what guess what guess what. I'M GOING TO COACHELLA IN APRIL. Yezzzz. Tickets went on sale Friday morning and after staring at the standby page for 1.5 hours and nervously eating Swedish Fish, I secured passes for the 2nd weekend (April 20-22). It seriously felt like pre-sale for Jonas Brothers all over again, but even more was at stake. (Btw, it sold out in 3 hours). I could not be more excited. Look at the lineup. SHINS SHINS SHINS. Everyone else RULES, but I've wanted to see The Shins since middle school and they are the title of this post. I'm going to be able to check off so many bands off my people-I-need-to-see-before-I-die list after this as well as checking off 'music festival.' I'M So0o0 EXCITED.
I spent the weekend in St. George. I hiked Angel's Landing, saw the St. George temple and watched an unhealthy amount of The OC. Also I finished Blink. The weekend was much too short and I'm not ready to go back to school. This semester doesn't seem too bad, but I know by March I will want to kill myself.
So the first picture is Preston and me pretending we like each other and right above is Carley and me at the temple. I had a lovely time with wonderful people :)

it's silent down here, hey i want to get loud again

Preston and I were sharing baby pics yesterday. Look at this gem. This is me. Circa...1991, I think. How glam am I? I also wonder what I was so distressed about.

First post of 2k12 so obviously I have to put up my New Year's Resolutions for the blogosphere to see so that I feel more accountable and it makes me it more official when they're posted somewhere.

1) No soda. This one sucks. Like it's great that I'm going to give up soda, but it's going to be the hardest for me to stick with. It's not even like I drink soda that often, but the other day I got fast food and I almost broke this one right then and there just because it's instinct to get a soda when I eat fast food of any kind. Or pizza. Or when I don't want candy but want something sweet. I never really drank soda until I came out to school. So no more leisurely drinking of soda. I am only allowing it for academic purposes because energy drinks are the worst.

2) Save money. This is one I start with every year and I'm going to admit, I have never really stuck with it. I guess there's not one defining moment of when you're like, "yeah, I totally saved money this year" but I seriously need to be more responsible with my money.

3) Exercise regularly. Another one that I always start with. The thing is, it's not like I completely stop exercising in February. I just have spurts of fitness. So I think this year, this goal is more like, less spurts, more durations of physical activity. It gets really hard when the semester starts up again and classes get busy, but I really just want a hot bod this summer. There I said it. #skinnyin2k12

4) Eat healthier/be more domestic. This one is hard. More than any other year, I have eaten pretty terribly or not at all. That sounds bad. Like I'll just not feed myself all day because I'll be in class and work and not have a break and then I'll get McDonald's at the end of the day. Or make Ramen. It's bad. And I need to try to cook. Which is hard too. Because I get so bored during the cooking process or I end up eating ingredients as I cook and then I'm full and have no desire to finish making my meal. #domesticin2k12

5) Read the Bible. I've never read the Bible the whole way through. And I was nervous about posting this one because I thought, is a year way too long to read the Bible? But I think it's reasonable. The Bible is so long! And some parts are really boring. Sorry. And I don't read a lot every day. Usually a chapter or two. So I'm going to try and finish the Bible by December 31, 2012.

Five is a good number. I'm done. Wish me luck.

Oh today was the first day of winter semester. It went well.
